Local Gardens in our Garden State
NJ is the Garden State and our corner has an abundance of gardens, particularly historic ones, to browse, learn and buy from.
Lyons Train Station - One of two train stations in Basking Ridge that offer train service into NYC, Hoboken, and towns all along the way! Enjoy the beautiful welcome sign as you leave the train, with cut outs of some of our landmarks!

Cross Estate Gardens in Bernardsville - Don't miss this beautiful tucked away estate with beautiful natural gardens, a stunning trellis and a great place to find peace and tranquility, just minutes from downtown Bernardsville, and practically next door to Jockey Hollow.
Music in the Somerset Hills - Enjoy exciting venues all over our area, indoors and out, as you relax to the the beautiful sounds of this wonderful musical community. It's amazing! The photo was at the summer concert in Bedminster.
Loyola Jesuit Center - We love the spring fundraiser held outdoors in this beautiful retreat in Morristown, situated on 11 acres in the converted Foote Mansion. The gardens are open to the public and it's just beautiful and tranquil.
The Deserted Village of Feltville - This "deserted village" dates back to the 1700s, with various incarnations over the years. Just off 78 near Watchung, this deserted village has quite a fascinating past, from mill, to touwn built around it, and more. Take a long walk through the area just about 15 minutes on 78 from Basking Ridge, and enjoy both the natural beauty of the trails, as well as the historic postings along the way.
Feltville House - Several groups have settled the area over the years, but none remain as a group. There are deserted houses to view from the outside on a self led tour. One of the homes along the way. You cannot enter the homes, but there's a storyboard on each. See the link for Deserted Village above for more.
Bernards Township WW1 and WW2 Memorial - Dedicated to those who served in WW1 and WW2, it is one of several areas in town where we honor those who served. The town hall also has a beautiful memorial, field of honor, and the Lyons Veterans Hospital is in our town. We honor all our Veterans.
Bernards Inn and Downtown Bernardsville - This historic and beautiful Inn and restaurant is a landmark in downtown Bernardsville. In addition to the hotel, it has an amazing bar area, and outdoor seating in the warmer weather.
The Hills Village Center - Bedminster The Hills Village shopping area has Kings as its restaurant, several wonderful restaurants, shops, Coldwell Banker Realty, and is centered right in the heart of Bedminster. We love supporting our local businesses!
Pluckemin Inn - The first time I visited was shortly after we moved to NJ, and met a friend for lunch. It was amazing. As time went on, we found ourselves dining on special occasions, gathering for holiday with friends, and fell in love with the outdoor dining area -- It's truly a shining star in our area. Another local business we love to support.
Raritan Headwaters - Bedminster Location - Their mission is simple - clean water. An to support them, they hold many wonderful events for all ages. I took this photo at the Lantern Walk, at dusk, in the early autumn. It's an amazing evening - you feel you are in the middle of nowhere, and the trails, stories, and seeing only lanterns that appear to be walking on their own is just breathtaking. Visit their site and show your support!
A Tribute in Bronze - Downtown Bernardsaville - Millicent Fenwick - This is the first female life sized sculpture in NJ of a woman. She will be remembered as a staunch advocate for civil rights, preserving the environment, and serving Bernardsville, our area, and the US faithfully. The plaque notes that Ms. Fenwick wanted to be remember as being useful - indeed, she far exceeded that standard. On holidays, local adorn the statue with scarves, hats, etc. appropriate to the holiday.
Rebel Hill Park, Basking Ridge - one of many town parks that offer open areas and activities: Rebel Hill has several tennis courts. Other parks offer walking/hiking trails, playground equipment, skate park, sports fields, pavilions and of course our wonder central town pools. Another thing to love about living in Basking Ridge, is the abundance of parks, each with its own vibe. Click the link for a little about each park in town.
